E Goscote Blues 1 Asfordby Ospreys 5
Ospreys recovered well from their previous set back and again started well. Ospreys did not falter this time despite the Blues going a goal ahead. They responded with some fine play from Morgan Hill who buried the ball to equalize. One all at half time.
Second half saw the Ospreys encamped in the Blues half. Jack Hoare scored from the edge of the area with a bullet of a shot that the keeper could not hold then not long after man of the match Reece Stitson got a well deserved third for the Ospreys. Joe Osborne capped a fine display by all, by scoring two more. A great display of football all round the team. Asfordby Ospreys 1 Barrow Eagles 3
Ospreys came out the blocks fast and furious but were unable to finish. Barrow gradually got into gear and pushed the Ospreys back into their own half and by half time were 1 nil up.
Second half saw the Eagles increased the pressure and but for some great defending from Matthew Hill the Ospreys could have been losing by double figures. Thankfully they were only able to score 2 more goals. Ospreys clawed their way out of the Eagles barrage and scored late on by Joe Osborne. Despite the result there were positives to be gained from the game. Shepshed Warriors 4 Asfordby Ospreys 4
An even game with not much to choose between the two teams. Overall a fair result. Shepshed came out the stronger and the Ospreys lack of matches showed as the home side were 2-0 half way through the first half. Ospreys found there gear and Joe Osborne smashed his first in with his right foot. Not long after Reece Stitson played a great cross field ball to send Joe in for his second. Ospreys were in full flow especially Joe Osborne who went down the right wing, cut inside and placed it to the bottom far corner for his hat trick.
Second half Shepshed had regrouped and scored two goals early in the half. Tiredness was showing within the Osprey team but this brought out the character of the team as late in the game Joe Osborne got his forth and as it turned out, to be the final goal of the game. A great game for any neutral with great attacking play. If not for the goalkeeping on both sides then the score could have been much more. Final score 4-4 MOM Matthew Hill Team.: Jake Shelley, Cole Taylor, Reece Stitson, Morgan Hill, Zachary Jolliffe, Joseph Osborne, Jack Hoare, Matthew Hill

P6 W2 D1 L3 F13 A7 Pts7 Match report for the league game against Syston Cannons U10'S
Asfordby Ospreys 1 Syston Cannons 2
An even game with not much to choose between the two teams. Ospreys troubled the Cannons defence early in the first half and after a mazy run Zac Jolliffe slotted the ball across the Cannon keeper to nestle neatly into the bottom left hand corner. Zac's first ever goal with the club and he could have doubled his talley if it weren't for some good keeping.
Cannons who are top of the table then began to show why with some great football and eventually equalized late in the first half despite some heroic goalkeeping from new player and man of the match Archie Butts.
The second half saw the Cannons go in front almost straight from the whistle and not long later almost stretched their lead if it wasn't for the defending of Jake Shelley and the keeping of Archie Butts. Despite some great efforts from Joe Osborne the Cannons managed to hold on till the final whistle. MOM Archie Butts Team.: Archie Butts, Jake Shelley, Cole Taylor, Reece Stitson, Morgan Hill, Zachary Jolliffe, Joseph Osborne, Harry Filtness, Joshua Hopkins, Ryan Eldridge, Jack Hoare

 |
 |
|
P5 W2 D1 L2 F12 A5 Pts7 Asfordby Ospreys 5 Quorn Terriers 0
Ospreys finally broke their voodoo and won their first ever home game since starting. The first goal came from a corner with Morgan Hill burying it from close range giving there keeper no chance. Several opportunities came and went as Quorn defended well. Quorn pressed on and came close but for some fine keeping from Zachary Jolliffe. Eventually Ospreys stepped up a gear and osprey top scorer showed his prowess and doubled the score.
Ospreys were not finished and Man of the Match Reece Stitson fired number three into the to right hand corner. In the second half Quorn tried hard to get back into the game but Zachary was keen to keep a clean sheet. Reece got his second of the game after some great play and not long after some great work in Midfield from Ryan Eldridge the ball found its way to Joseph Osborne again who placed it coolly into the bottom left hand corner. Great play by all and well deserved. MOM Reece Stitson Team: Zachary Jolliffe, Jake Shelley, Matthew Hill, Ryan Eldridge, Reece Stitson, Morgan Hill, Joshua Hopkins, Joseph Osborne.

P4 W1 D1 L2 F7 A5 Pts4 Asfordby Ospreys 1 Shepshed Warriors 3
A game of two halves in very windy conditions. The first half saw two teams battling the elements with Ospreys having the best chances from some great play from Joshua Hopkins and Reece Stitson. Shepshed keeper was in great form and denied Osprey from going a goal up in the first half.
The second half again saw some great keeping from Shepshed who denied the ever dangerous Joseph Osborne. Shepshed caught the Ospreys on the counter attack three times. All attempts by Ospreys to get back into the game were thwarted until the last kick of the game when Morgan Hill managed to stab the ball into the net after a goal mouth scramble.

P4 W1 L1 D1 F6 A2 Pts4 Match report for the league game against Barrow Eagles U10 Barrow Eagles 0 Asfordby Ospreys 5 A great response after being knocked out of the county cup. The boys showed true character and came out looking to erase the cup performance. In the first and second half Zachary Jolliffe had little to do in goal as he was well supported in front of goal but when called upon responded brilliantly. A first half goal mouth scramble in the Barrow area saw the ball trickle in the net as the ball bounced from player to player. Own goal and one nil at half time. The second half saw new player Reece Stitson play some great football eventually the ball found its way to man of the match Joseph Osborne who neatly slotted in. Osborne stepped into overdrive and scored three more before the final whistle. Morgan Hill was inspired and but for some great defending could of increased the score line. A great performance from all players. - 27 Sep 09 v East Goscote - Home - League
|
P2 W0 L1 D1 F1 A2 Pts1 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 1 v East Goscote Blues 1
A game the Ospreys knew would be harder than their last meeting and East Goscote didn't disappoint.
A slow start for the Ospreys but soon found their footing with Joe Osborne looking sharp and eager. Ospreys missed several chances but with persistance found the back of the net from a very tight angle which surprised everyone but the Osborne who knew where he wanted it to go and the ball obliged. One nil at half time.
East Goscote came back strong in the second half and could of got a couple if it were not for some great tackles by Cole Taylor eventually they got there reward and equalised. Joshua Hopkins and man of the match Morgan Hill worker hard in the midfield looking for the winning goal but Goscote's keeper was in fine form denying Osborne who worked tirelessly. In some ways a fair result but the look of disappointment on some of the Ospreys faces showed that 3 points were for the taking but was it not for some great goal keeping. |
County Cup U10's East Goscote Blues 0 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 5 Ospreys went into this game knowing they could win on recent performances and they did not disappoint. Ospreys given a free kick within their own half which was taken by Jake Shelley who provided Joe Osborne with the perfect opportunity. Joe controlled it then coolly slotted the ball home for the first goal.
Ospreys continued to attack and got a corner which was brilliantly smashed in at the rear post by Matthew Hill. The goal showed the unselfish attitude amongst the team. Jack Hoare had a great chance for the third. He looked up and spotted Joe Osborne beside him in the clear and made the third goal easy for Joe to score his second. Three nil at half time.
East Goscote pressed hard initially for a goal in the second half and was caught out on the break by Joe Osborne. Picking up the ball at the half way line hi went the full half of the pitch and netted his third. A great way to get the first hat trick of the season. Another corner saw the fifth and final of the game. Joe Osborne with the corner was knocked in for an own goal. Morgan Hill came close to number six by hitting the post.
It was a great performance with all the players deserving a goal and the man of the match trophy. Joe Osborne got the trophy for his hat trick and good work ethic. Very little for the Osprey goalie but Zachary Jollife was there when required. Overall a fantastic performance and every player deserves a mention. MOM Joe Osborne Team: Zachary Jolliffe, Jake Shelley, Cole Taylor ,Joshua Hopkins ,Mattew Hill, Morgan Hill, Ryan Eldridge, Jack Hoare, Josoeph Osborne

P1 W0 D0 L1 F0 A1 Pts 0 Under 10's League Game Syston Cannons 1 Asfordby Amateur Ospreys 0 Start of the new season started with good expectations after the performance at the end of last season. The game was an even one with good pressure from both teams. Zachary Jolliffe showed great awareness in goal to keep the score even at half time with the help from Man of the match Jake Shelley and Matthew Hill in defence.
Syston’s goal came early in the second half which squeezed in the near post. Ospreys rolled up their sleeves and tried hard for the equaliser but it just didn't come. Morgan Hill and Joseph Osborne working well up front. The game deserved the equaliser as both teams played well. Ospreys have nothing to fear for the season with this showing. - 31 Aug v Quorn Hounds
|
Hounds looked like a good team and the season experience was clearly evident and eventually told in the second half. The first half was a good tussle between two sides with contrasting styles. Some great defending and instinctive goalkeeping from Cole Taylor kept their goal tally to 2 in the first half with the Ospreysreplying with a single goal from some slick play involving more or less the whole team, working the ball from the back to be finished by Joseph Osbourne 6 yards out.
The second half saw Quorn press forward more and scored 5 more goals as the Ospreys began to tire. Overall it was a great display by the Ospreys with lots of positives and the score line perhaps was a bit harsh when compared to the enthusiasm, commitment and, at times, skill by all the Ospreys. A great show for a brand new team. Final score Asfordby Amateurs Osprey 1 Quorn Hounds 7 motm ---- Joseph Osbourne
Asfordby : Cole Taylor, Jake Shelley, Joshua Hopkins, Zachary Jolliffe, Morgan Hill and Joseph Osbourne.

P2 W0 D0 L2 F1 A12 Pts0 League Match Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 Ibstock Pumas 5 A hard fought game with two evenly matched teams despite the scorline. Both teams defended well especially Jake Shelley in defence and some great saves from Matthew Hill for the Ospreys. Pumas eventually took their chances. Despite the final score progress could be seen for this new team. Motm Jake Shelley Players: Matthew Hill, Jake Shelley, Morgan Hill, Cole Taylor, Zachary Jolliffe, Joseph Osborne, Ryan Eldridge, Joshua Hopkins

P3 W0 D0 L3 F1 A18 Pts0 League Match L'boro Dynamo Black 6 - Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 To coin a cliche, it was a game of two halves. Dynamos came at the Ospreys straight from the first whistle and the Ospreys had no answer. Dynamos found themselves up by 4 goals by the half time whistle and were probably expecting the Ospreys to roll over in the second half but the Ospreys had different ideas. Some great surging runs by Zachary Joliffe saw confidence rise amongst the Ospreys along with some great saves by Matthew Hill. Dynamos could only manage 2 further goals and the story could have been different if the Ospreys were not denied a certain penalty midway through the half. A good game in the end. Motm Zachary Jolliffe Players:- M.Hill, J.Shelley, C.Taylor, J.Osborne, J.Hopkins, M.Hill, R.Eldridge, Z.Jolliffe

- 12 Oct v Barrow (H)
|
P4 W0 D0 L4 F1 A21 Pts0 Asfordby Amateurs 0 Barrow Tigers 3 A good game with nothing to separate both teams. Possession was 50/50 and chances were few. By half time 0-0 was a fair reflection of the game. From the start of the second half the Ospreys came flying out the blocks and were denied the lead by some last gasp defending. As the game wore on the play was stretched and Ospreys defence cracked first then the Ospreys were always chasing. James Lewis provided some good midfield endeavour and perhaps deserved a goal but it was not to be. Motm: James Lewis Team: M.Hill, J.Shelley, C Taylor, J.Lewis, R.Eldridge, T.Bester, J.Hopkins, J.Osborne, Z.Jolliffe

- 2 Nov v Shepshed (A)
|
Shepshed Dynamos 3 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 1 A good game in awful conditions. Both teams played hard but fair. Ospreys went down to an unfortunate goal mid way through the first half and almost equalised straight away after a good through ball from Morgan Hill put Zachary Jolliffe in the cleared and but for a great save would have levelled the score. Ospreys quickly let in two goals early in the second half. Eventually Ospreys preassured for a goal and got the reward after a great cross from Zachary Jolliffe was buryed by Joe Osborne. Great play all round and a draw would have been a fairer reflection. MotM Joseph Osborne Team:- M.Hill, J.Shelley, C.Taylor, M.Hill, J.Lewis, C.Sharp, J.Hopkins, R.Eldridge, Z.Jolliffe, J.Osborne P5 W0 D0 L5 F2 A24 Pts0

- 9 Nov v Sileby (H)
|
P6 W0 D0 L6 F2 A26 Pts0 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 Sileby Stallions 2 The best game by far played by the Ospreys and should have been 4-0 up by half time and that would not have shown how well the Ospreys played. Ospreys could not put their chances away. The second half saw Sileby come at the Ospreys with the aid of a stiff breeze yet Ospreys still had good chances at the other end. Some great play all round from Joshua Hopkins and Ryan Eldridge summed up how well the Ospreys were playing. Football can be cruel and against the run of play Sileby scored two quick goals in the dying minuits of the game. Motm Matthew Hill Team: M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, J.Hopkins, R.Eldridge, M.Hill, J.Lewis, Z.Jolliffe, J.Osborne

P7 W0 D0 L7 F2 A34 Pts0 Rothely Imps 8 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 A tough game on a heavy pitch and despite some good pressure from the Imps, Ospreys defended valiantly and restricted the Imps to a single goal within the first half. Cole Taylor and Jake Shelley worked well as a defencive unit with the dependable Matthew Hill in goal until tiredness and the Imps good football got the better and even a penalty save my Matthew Hill could not stop the goals going in. James Lewis ran himself into the ground for the team and was an active player supporting the defence. Motm:- Cole Taylor Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, M.Hill, J.Lewis, C.Sharp, Z.Jolliffe, R.Eldridge, J.Osborne

- 7 Dec v Quorn (A)
|
Quorn Hounds 3 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0
This was a good game in crisp conditions and the attitude of the players was much to be admired. The game swung back and forth and unfortunately Ospreys could not finish. James Lewis made an excellent run from deep in his own half and dribbled round most of the opposition only to be denied by a great save. Probably save of the season was made by Matthew Hill. It was pure instinct and is only seen rarely in professional games. It was that good. Overal Quorn just shaded it despite Joseph Osborne's best performance of the season.

P9 W0 D0 L9 F3 A45 Pts0 League Match U9's Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 1 Loughborough Dynamos 8 A game in which the better team won with some good football. Ospreys played below there own high standards and found themselves behind at the break by 5 goals. The high point for the home team was a great solo effort from the half way line to the edge of the area where Joe Osborne scored a belter. The second half faired a little better with Loughborough only managing to score a further 3 goals. Final score Ospreys 1 Dynamos 8. There were some notable displays by Matthew hill who kept goal brilliantly thus keeping the score down and James Lewis who was played out of position for the good of the team and made some crucial tackles. Motm:- Joseph Osborne Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, M.Hill, J.Lewis, J. Hopkins, C.Sharp, Z.Jolliffe, R.Eldridge, J.Osborne

- 11 Jan v Barrow (A)
|
P10 W0 D0 L10 F3 A50 Pts Barrow Tigers 5 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 It seemed like a different team from the last outing. Ospreys looked so much better and deserved better than the score line suggests. Despite some great defending Ospreys found themselves 3 goals down by half team. Some great displays from several players such as James Lewis who came close to scoring his first goal for the team but was denied by the post. Morgan hill made some great forward runs which asked several questions of the Barrow defence. Matthew Hill has consistantly played well and this game was no different. Ryan Eldridge was a completely different player and deserved the mam of the match. Unfortunately Ospreys could not finish and were further punished by 2 more goals. Motm:- Ryan Eldridge Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, M.Hill, J.Lewis, J. Hopkins, C.Sharp, Z.Jolliffe, R.Eldridge, J.Osborne

P11 W0 D0 L11 F3 A52 Pts0 League Match U9's 15/02/09 Ibstock Pumas 2 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 After what seemed like an eternity Ospreys managed to kick a ball and from the off the Ospreys piled on the pressure. Unfortunately Pumas caught the Ospreys on the counter attack and slotted the ball home and then again another break caught the Ospreys by surprise and a penalty was eventually awarded. Despite a great save by the keeper Matthew Hill, Pumas responded to the rebound first and scored. The score line did noe reflect the game at all and the Ospreys can count themselves unlucky. A change of keeper at the break due to illness saw the man of the match Morgan hill make some unconventional saves. James Lewis and Joe Osborne provided some great link up play. Jake Shelley along with Cole Taylor made sure that the Osprey goal was well defended. Despite the lack of football recently all the players should be proud of their performance. Motm:- Morgan Hill Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, M.Hill, J.Lewis, J. Hopkins, Z.Jolliffe, R.Eldridge, J.Osborne

P12 W0 D0 L12 F3 A54 Pts0 League Match U9's 22/02/09 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 0 Rothely Imps 2 This was always going to be a test of how far the Osprey's have come in their first season. Top of the table Rothely came and tried to show their obvious strengths but Ospreys were equal to it and came close to taking the lead late in the first half had the crossbar been one inch higher. Despite the chances created by the Ospreys very few hit the target and if it was not for the heroic goalkeeping by man of the match Morgan Hill Rothely could have been leading at half time.
It wasn't until mid way through the second half before the dead lock was broken and Rothely eventually found a way around the Osprey defence. They quickly followed with a second goal not long after. Ospreys regained their concentration and despite some good efforts could not reply. A good solid display all round with lots of positives. Motm:- Morgan Hill Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, M.Hill, J.Lewis, J. Hopkins, Z.Jolliffe, R.Eldridge, J.Osborne

|
P13 W0 D0 L13 F5 A57 Pts0 League Match U9's 08/03/09 Sileby Stallions 3 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 2 An even contest from start to finish which saw both teams supporters biting their finger nails wondering which way the game will go. The first half saw the ospreys provide some intense pressure but it was Sileby who scored first by a penalty. It wasn't long before the pressure told and Joe Osborne equalized from a free kick which managed to find its way to the back of the net and just before the break man of the match Joe Osborne again scored from twenty yards out. A great goal!
The second half saw Sileby come out the blocks quicker and although there was some great defending from Jake Shelley, Sileby eventually pegged Ospreys back. The game should have ended overall a draw but a cruel stroke of luck saw Sileby score with virtually the last kick of the game. Ospreys were disappointed but after the taste of leading for the first time in their history are eager for the next apponents. Motm:- Joe Osborne Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, M.Hill, J.Lewis, J. Hopkins, Z.Jolliffe, R.Eldridge, J.Osborne

P14 W0 D1 L13 F8 A60 Pts1 League Match U9's 15/03/09 Asfordby Amateurs Ospreys 3 Shepshed Dynamo 3 Last game of the season saw the Ospreys finally get a point which was long overdue. Shepshed had the first good chance of the game but were unable to put away their chance. After some sustained pressure Ospreys broke the deadlock with a well taken goal from the Ospreys top goal scorer, Joe Osborne. Unfortunately Shepshed equalised not long later. Just before the half time whistle James Lewis powered through and gave the advantage to the home side with a well taken goal.
The second half saw a little more from Shepshed and got their second goal mid way through the final half. With only minutes remaining of the game Matthew Hill forced over what was thought to be the winning goal from a corner. To the visitors credit with virtually the last kick of the game they to scored from a corner and that was that. It's testament to the team that although it was Ospreys first ever point the team was disappointed that it was not a win. Motm:- The whole team Team:- M.Hill, C.Taylor, J.Shelley, M.Hill, J.Lewis, J. Hopkins, Z.Jolliffe, Osborne

- 25 Apr Shepshed Tournament
|
Asfordby Amateur Ospreys match reports in the Shepshed Sevens Tournament Ospreys went into the tournament knowing that they would come across some very good teams and they were not dissappointed. Along with the uncertainty of how well we would do was the encouragement of the displays shown towards the end of their season. Asfordby Ospreys 1 Shepshed Whites 0 Ospreys came out of the blocks at a sprint and a great solo effort from James Lewis saw Ospreys go ahead early in the first half and never looked like losing the lead. Asfordby Ospreys 1 Thurmaston Thunder 0 Thurmaston were one of the fancied teams in the group but with the new found belief within the Ospreys found it hard to break down the defence. After a great free kick from Jake Shelley that itself in the back of Thunder's net the Ospreys new that they would have some serious pressure for the rest of the game. The team stood strong. A great team effort. Asfordby Ospreys 0 L,boro Dynamo Blacks 2 The Ospreys dared to believe that they could win every game but came unstuck by a very good team. Earlier efforts had created some tied legs and despite some great defending a goal in each half saw the Blacks become the eventual league winners. Asfordby Ospreys 0 Whitwick Bucks 0 Both teams had the chance to progress as the best losing team from the group stages to the knockouts and a win from either team would have done it but it was not to be. A good game but both defences were solid. A great display and an overall performance that all players and parents can be very proud of.
